Geoffrey Reid Associates wins European cladding award

Geoffrey Reid Associates have won what is believed to be the first ever award dedicated to the use of composite cladding panels for one of BAA's demonstration projects, Project Caesar, at London's Heathrow Airport. Project Caesar, completed in 1999, is a 6,800 sqm of perishable foods transit facility and is currently occupied by BA World Cargo.

The initiative, organised by Paroc Oy Ab, Panel System of Finland, called for entries to be submitted by their various sales channels throughout Europe and the Baltic region for the best use of the system as a faade material. The award sets out to promote the rational application of the panel system, integration with other components as well as detailing and innovative solutions within a good architectural design.

Geoffrey Reid Associates' entry, selected from twenty-five shortlisted projects in eleven countries, has won the first prize of Euro 10,000. A further four projects were recognised with a prize of Euro1000 each.

Geoffrey Reid Associates will use the award money in a cladding related research.
