Architecture in Berlin has always been on a grand scale, never more than in the boom years around the turn of the century. The building supply trade was faced with a challenge then that they met with some distinction. The S A Loevy bronzeworks in Berlin, for example, was awarded the Prussian State Medal in 1896 for a wide range of fittings whose authors included many famous architects and designers.

We are delighted that Nicholas Grimshaw, Josef P Kleihues and Richard Rogers have returned to the tradition of the old S A Loevy firm to come up with new door handles for their projects in Berlin.
