PROFILE:

• I spent the first ten years of practice in small firms, working on a wide range of new and existing buildings, getting a thorough grounding in building construction and studying Building Construction on ONC and HNC day release.
  
• I went on to work with more talented Architects whilst studying Architecture (Integrated part-time) day-release; the solid background giving me the freedom to 'fly' with my designs, unrestricted by lack of knowledge of construction, and receiving recognition as a top student in my year, being commended at BSc and awarded a distinction and Honours at Diploma.
  
• The technical background has lead me back to the 'nuts and bolts' of the building process, where I feel I can make the best contribution.
  
• I have established a specification consultancy over the past 13 years.
  

KEY ACHIEVEMENTS

• Successful commissions have included public, private and speculative projects, procured by general contracting, construction management, management contracting, design & build, DMC and BOOT.
  
• Project values have ranged from £50,000. to £450m.
  
• Client list includes architects, interior designers, furniture designers, landscape architects, and manufacturers. I am still keen to work with Contractors.
  
• Established a Network of specification writing and other specialists who are prepared to help each other out when work load demands, this also allows us to find the right person to fill positions on projects when enquiries reach us via practices, contacts or agencies.
  
• I am passing my specialist knowledge in this field back to the industry via CPD conferences and practices staff development seminars, work shops and software training.

Training staff in use of SpecMan software, training and guidance in writing specifications, training in use of computers, operating systems, Microsoft Office and other software.
