The Beauty of Our Pain The Beauty of Our Pain was the title of an installation by AA unit master Shin Egashira at Tokyo's Hillside Gallery in summer 1996. Composed of reconstructed 'fitness equipment' that would not have looked out of place in a medieval torture chamber, it offered a tongue-in-cheek exploration of architecture as a kind of machine for reforming our body of senses, representing a cause of both mental and physical stress, perhaps, but also a source of curiosity and beauty. |
