![]() Translations from Drawing to Building and Other Essays The late Robin Evans was an original, altogether unequalled historian whose writings covered a wide range of architectural concerns: society's involvement in building types, spatial relations, aspects of geometry, modes of projection. This book brings together eight of his most interesting and significant essays, including 'Mies van der Rohe's Paradoxical Symmetries' and others that were first published in AA Files. Written over a period of twenty years from 1970, shortly after his graduation from the AA, to 1990, they are representative of his diverse body of work. The essays are supported by an introduction by Mohsen Mostafavi, a survey of Evans's writings by Robin Middleton, and an annotated bibliography by Richard Difford. This volume is published in an inexpensive format aimed at introducing to a new readership the observations of an agile and sceptical mind. |
