UK: Travertine: Manufacturers & Suppliers

Travertine is a form of limestone deposited by mineral springs. It is has a fibrous or concentric appearance and exists in white, tan, and cream coloured varieties. It is formed by a process of rapid precipitation of calcium carbonate, often at the mouth of a hot spring or in a limestone cave. Travertine was used historically as a building material; for example the Colosseum in Rome is built of travertine. Today it is mainly used to produce high quality wall tiles and flooring tiles. Various finishes are available, including honed, brushed, polished, and the rougher tumbled finish. Leading UK suppliers of travertine are profiled below the panel of sponsored links.

Its most popular travertine tile is the Premium Classic Medium Travertine Honed and Filled. This has warm biscuit tones and cloudy swirls. It is suitable for most areas within the home and office but is mainly used on walls and floors within bathroom and shower areas. It is 12mm thick, is available in various sizes from 203mm square up to 610mm square, and comes with a semi-polished honed surface with all the holes factory filled. Any small holes are filled in the factory. The tiles are cut straight to provide an even sahpe and narrow joints.
